If you have looked up into the night sky over the last month, on a clear night, you may have seen a remarkable planetary alignment. Six planets lined up in a row. It is known as a Planetary Parade. Later this month Mercury will join in, so that seven plants will be visible in a row. This seven planet configuration will not occur again until 2492!!
I was fortunate to see some these planets on a clear night, last week. It reminded of this verse from Psalm 8
“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.
…. When I look up into the night skies and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you have made….”
“When I see the moon and stars you have made” – surely this must be one of the greatest understatements ever? If you have ever been fortunate enough to be in a ‘dark sky’ place on a clear night surely your only reaction can be, WOW!
Psalm 8 reminds us that God who made all this cares for us and loves us.
“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour.”
This amazing creator God loved us so much that he sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment for our wrong doing and give His life so we might live.
Graham Kendrick summed it up beautifully in these words
Come see His hands and His feet.
The scars that speak of sacrifice;
Hands that flung stars into space
To cruel nails surrendered
As we wonder at God’s amazing creation it should lead us to worship -“to bring our lives as a daily offering of worship to the Servant King.”
Over the next few weeks I hope you will be fortunate enough to see the Planetary Parade and to ponder that the God who made all this loves you so much, with an indescribable love.
Surely that’s worth a WOW!
Love, Sandra
